The Union’s State Committee of Management has resolved to accept the resignation of Comrade Greg Mitchell from the office of Retained Sub Branch Secretary and has resolved that in accordance with the Union’s registered Rules 24 (1) it shall appoint a member to fill position now left vacant. As such the State Committee of Management has directed that a notice be issued to all eligible members asking that those seeking appointment to the position contact the office and indicate their interest. The Union’s State Committee of Management will then appoint one member to the vacant position for the remaining 11 months of the Unions current term.
The role and duties of the position are as defined at Rule 21 (2);
‘Sub-Branch Secretaries shall, wherever practicable attend all meetings of their Sub-Branch, General Meetings and meetings of the State Committee of Management. Sub-Branch Secretaries shall present the recommendations of their Sub-Branch to the State Committee of Management for its consideration in accordance with Rule 51 of these Rules.’
As such the Union is now calling upon any eligible financial member of the Union interested in taking on the position of Retained Sub-Branch Secretary to contact the Union indicating that interest in order that the State Committee of Management can consider all candidates prior to appointing a person to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the State Committee of managements term.

The Union’s State Committee of Management has further resolved not to progress the Sub-Branch Executive Committee elections at this stage due to the pending changes to the Unions registered Rules as per the decision of the Unions rank and file at the 2007 Annual General Meeting.
