New Transfer Registers
Further to SITREP 8/2010’s announcement last week of enhanced S/O and 3 permanent staffing, the Union can now confirm that permanent transfers to these stations will be arranged as follows:
Ballina: Station Officers and firefighters will be drawn from the existing Northern Rivers Regional Transfer Registers.
Nelson Bay, Maitland and Cessnock: the existing Maitland Country Transfer Register will grow to two Regional Transfer Registers, the existing register being used for firefighter transfers and a new register being established for Station Officers. Like Northern Rivers and Katoomba, MN2’s Inspectors will continue to be selected by interview until they move to 10/14 staffing.
Batemans Bay: a new Batemans Bay Country Transfer Register will be established for firefighter transfers only in accordance with subclause 28.2.3. Station Officers will be selected by interview.
Members coming off the Maitland or Northern Rivers transfer registers will go first to a Special Roster station, with transfer to the Back to Back roster (Lismore) and then 10/14 roster (East Maitland or Tweed Heads) occurring by order of their transfer to the area. The Department will be able to transfer members within the Maitland area from one Special Roster station to another, just as 10/14 transfers occur within the GSA and other list areas, but will not be able to transfer members from the 10/14 (or Back to Back) to a Special Roster station without their agreement.
Additional public holiday bonanza
SITREP 4/2010 confirmed that last year’s Boxing Day public holiday was not gazetted as an additional public holiday, the date of the public holiday was simply moved.
The Union can now confirm that additional public holidays have been gazetted for Tuesday 28 December 2010 and Monday 3 January 2011, so subclause 6.4 of the permanent award will see members who work on either of these days credited consolidated leave for all hours actually worked.
For 28 December 2010, this means 14 hours’ leave for D Platoon (0001 to 0800 hours, and 1800 to 2400 hours), 10 hours’ leave for C Platoon (0800 to 1800 hours), 12 hours’ leave for F Platoon (0600 to 1800 hours) and 8.5 hours’ leave for members on the Special Roster (0800 to 1630 hours). Beyond this, all members (including Ops Support members) will be credited for any hours actually worked.
For 3 January 2011, this means 14 hours’ leave for A Platoon (0001 to 0800 hours, and 1800 to 2400 hours), 10 hours’ leave for D Platoon (0800 to 1800 hours), 12 hours’ leave for E Platoon (0600 to 1800 hours) and 8.5 hours’ leave for members on the Special Roster (0800 to 1630 hours). Again any members, including Ops Support members, will be credited for any hours actually worked.
