Today’s Stop Work Action & Rally Against O’farrell’s Ir Laws

Commissioner Mullins yesterday issued two memoranda titled “Directions re Industrial Action”, one addressed to “FRNSW Directors” and the other to “All Staff”. Not surprisingly, both memos repeat the directions issued last Friday to all public sector agency managers by the O’Farrell Government.

The Union’s State Committee of Management has resolved that all members listed here below are to stop work for two hours tomorrow, 15 June in order to attend tomorrow’s public demonstrations against the O’Farrell Government’s anti-worker IR laws.

The O’Farrell Government’s draconian industrial relations legislation will be back before the Parliament next week, where it is expected to pass into law.
This is the beginning of a new period of industrial turmoil for NSW public sector workers. Not only does this legislation lock in pay rises less than inflation, not only does it legislate to make the IRC a mouth piece of the government, it also enshrines the concept of “employee related cost offsets” in any future negotiations.
