One of the problems arising out of the day-shift roster configuration worked at the above Stations is the ability of the Department to exploit members through the use of stand-bys at those Stations. In effect, members may be made to perform unlimited out-duties through stand-bys at these Stations as they may start at their own Station and return prior to 1800 hours. Read more…

Re:      Motor Driving Allowance

Following inquiries from members at the above Stations relating to payment of motor driving allowances for Station Officers, the Union made representations on this matter to the Department. The Union advanced the argument that the above Stations do not have Engine Keepers as part of their retained complement, and that the Station Officers are responsible for overseeing the appliance in the absence of permanent firefighters. On Thursday, 27th April, a member attached to City of Sydney “A” Platoon was railroaded by the Commissioner’s new approach to discipline in the NSWFB.
