Earlier this year the NSW Parliament commenced a Parliamentary Inquiry into the Rural Fire Service. Over 600 submissions from the public and interested parties were received, with many of them being asked to give evidence at various hearings which were held throughout the state in February and March. Death and Disability Dispute Update

It might not be in the news, but that doesn’t mean that our long-running D&D dispute has been forgotten. Whilst there is still no clear end in sight, there has been plenty of work going on “behind the scenes” in recent weeks and further meetings between the Union, the Department and the Government are expected to be held over the coming fortnight. It is our intention that some sort of concrete proposal will now be presented to us before the end of this month. Read more…

The Australian Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer has today formally declared the final result of our Union’s elections for the term 2000-2003. There were 5376 ballot papers issued and 1247 returned (23.19%), 1245 being formal.

Acting-Up To Recommence 0800 hrs Tomorrow

Members attending our last General Meeting held agreed to the re-introduction of acting-up for Leading Firefighters provided that the previous guidelines would continue, and that the Department agreed to always maintain a minimum quota of Station Officer positions. Read more…
