As a result of the Department’s continued lack of timely action in dealing with the high level of line faults being generated by the Communication Centre’s computer, all members are instructed that effective 1800 hours on 31 July 1996, personnel at State Fire Command – Alexandria are to report all line faults to appropriate NSWFB personnel by way of pager as they are received at the Centre.  The appropriate personnel are:  DPOP (Brett Hume), Director – Operational Support (Roger Doyle) and Manager – Communications (John Shenstone). As a result of the Department’s lack of timely action in dealing with the high level of line faults being generated by the Communication Centre’s computer, all members are instructed that effective 1800 hours on 30 July 1996, no NSWFB personnel are to be paged by State Fire Command – Alexandria except in a fire related situation. The three separate resolutions concerning payment of the allowances were endorsed by the rank and file across all centres, with the Department accepting the position on permanent and relieving/relief operators. However the Department has rejected the Union’s proposal for what were previously the Provincial Comms centres. This was anticipated, with the Department refusing to pay any more than the rostered number of operators per shift (Alb, Turv 1, Gosf, Kat 2). [Read more]
