Bans remain in force

In a letter notable for its strong “don’t blame me, blame the Government” theme, the Commissioner late this afternoon replied to our last correspondence of Wednesday May 5 to confirm that the Department has abandoned its earlier agreement to backdate the first wage increases under the new Awards.

The bans and limitations which were introduced from midnight last Friday will be maintained at their current level pending the next meeting of the Union’s State Committee, to be held shortly. A comprehensive report to members will follow that meeting.
