COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 restriction levels remain the same.

All Metropolitan East, Metropolitan South and Metropolitan West Zones are to adhere to Levels 1, 2 and 3 restrictions in the attached document.

All other Zones are to adhere to Levels 1 and 2.

Award Update

Our Award Committee met with the Department this morning for our first meeting of the year. They’ve now indicated that they will be formally putting an offer to us of 0.3% over 12 months in the upcoming days.

We began these negotiating meetings with the Department in mid-November of last year at which time we presented them with the log of claims you, the members, had endorsed. The Department, however, only met with Public Sector Industrial Relations (PSIR) earlier this week to finalise their bargaining parameters.

There are still a number of external factors at play regarding the pay increase, including the appeal of last year’s wages decision to the Supreme Court. However, that matter is unlikely to be heard this half of the year so there won’t be an outcome before our Awards expire next month.

There was also discussion today about the D&D Award and a willingness of both parties to engage with the D&D Board to implement some of their requests for changes to the Award. We will be meeting with the Department again in two weeks. As always, we will keep you up to date.

Delegate Zoom Briefings

Delegate briefings will be starting up again via Zoom from 1 February 2021. Your organisers are looking forward to seeing you all, albeit online, and will be in touch with you shortly to provide all the dates and information.

If your station doesn’t yet have a delegate, now is a great time to elect one. Just speak with your organiser about the best way to do this.

FBEU State Committee Elections

The election of FBEU officials starts 23 February (SitRep 2/2021 incorrectly stated 22 February). We’re still waiting for NSW Electoral Commission to confirm the timetable for nominations, ballot sending and return dates but we will let you know as soon as we have this information.
