TRAINING OF FIRE FIGHTERS TO OCCUPY NEW POSITIONS IN COMMUNICATIONS CENTRES SYDNEY, NEWCASTLE AND WOLLONGONG.
Following extensive negotiations between the Department, the members concerned and the Union on the manner in which fire fighters occupying new positions in communications centres are to be trained, agreement has been reached to conduct that training as follows:
Training in the Katoomba Communications Centre will be conducted as per
Newcastle and Wollongong, however no starting date has yet been established.
Training in the Gosford Communication Centre is yet to be established.
Given the complexity of the equipment in these centres and the imperative that ALL business in these centres is carried out in the most professional manner.
The Union has ensured that no member will receive any less than standard Communication Centre training.
Accordingly members are informed that in an effort to expedite the training of all Communications Centre operators. Agreement has been reached that Newcastle and Wollongong Communications Centres will revert to previous staffing levels (S.O. and 2, and S.O. and 1 respectively) from 0800 hours Monday August 28th to 0800 hours Monday September 4th.
The State Communication Centre (Alexandria) will revert to 1 Inspector, 2 Station Officers and 8 operators from 0800 hours Monday August 28th to 0800 hours Monday September 25th.
Immediately these dates have been reached staffing levels maintained over the last five weeks are to considered minimum staffing levels and rigidly adhered to.
Effective dates for the training of staff in the Katoomba Communications Centre and Gosford Centre have not yet been established, as such these Centres are to be maintained at 2 operators per shift until further notice.
