3% Firefighter wage increases

PERMANENT MEMBERS: The third stage of the ’97 Permanent Staff Award’s 18% wage increase came into effect on 14 August 1998. The majority of allowances have also increased by 3% from the same date. For details of the new allowances, members should refer to Table 2 of Part D of the Award ( copies should be at all stations ).

• Executive Officers’ annual salaries have also been adjusted upwards by 3%.

RETAINED MEMBERS: The third stage of the ’97 Retained Staff Award’s 18% wage increase comes into effect on and from 1 October 1998. Wage rates/retainers will increase by 3% on that date. Some allowances will also increase by 3% from the same date. For details of the new allowances, members should refer to Tables 1 and 2 of Part B of the Retained Award ( copies should be at all stations ).

As a consequence of these increases and in accordance with the Union’s Registered Rules, FBEU membership fees have also been adjusted upwards by 3%. The fourth and final 3% increase due under the 1997 Awards will now be paid to Permanent members in Feb ’99, and to Retained members in April ’99.
