CODE RED – COVID-19 Restrictions

June 26, 2021

As stated in SitRep 32/2021, the current stay-at-home orders have been extended across all Greater Sydney including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong from 1800hrs today (26 June) until 2359hrs Friday, 9 July.

Pandemic Restriction Levels

The Union agrees that FRNSW operational work is considered essential work and that is why it is imperative to move to Pandemic Restriction Level 4. The increase by the Department to Pandemic Restriction Level 3 doesn’t go far enough to protect our members, their families nor the people of NSW.

This Code Red instruction sets out that as of 0800hrs Sunday (27 June) that members carry out instructions as per Pandemic Restriction Level 4.

Further to this:

  • No relieving in or out of Communication Centres in Newcastle and Alexandria.
  • That from Monday 0800hrs all members at the ESA are to postpone all training, until the Department relays to the FBEU in writing how it will keep all members including instructors and recruits, which may include up to 80 personnel, from becoming a Covid Hub due to members coming from hot zone areas. Any members who arrive at the ESA for training should be sent home in the case of recruits or back to their stations for operational personnel.
  • Members based at a station located within stay-at-home orders should continue to perform duties at these locations only.
  • Members who have worked at a station located within stay-at-home orders in the 14 days prior to the public health order can continue to perform duties at these locations only.
  • If a member is based at a station located within stay-at-home orders, but has not worked in one of these areas in the 14 days prior to the public health order, then they should report to their nearest station, outside this area, for duty.
  • If a member resides at a location within stay-at-home orders, but is based at a station outside these areas, then they should report to their nearest station inside this area for duty.
  • If a member is unable to safely perform any of the above then they should be provided with alternative work arrangements.
  • Special Paid Leave to be paid to members affected by the Public Health Orders irrespective of your residential location.

This does not apply to incidents or a move up caused by an incident. Members currently performing country relief can stay in place until their period of relief is finished. If any member is unsure of how this affects them, they are to call the Union Office during business hours or their Sub-Branch Secretary after hours.

Remember, if you feel unwell or display any symptoms stay at home. Stay safe.

In Unity,

Shane Kennedy

State Secretary
