SitRep 39/2021

July 27, 2021

As you are aware, your Union has been talking to FRNSW for weeks now about the progressive COVID-19 situation.

We are now confident that almost every staff member who is going to be affected by the code red have now sought alternate working arrangements and/or contacted the Union for assistance.

As such, we are lifting the code red of 26 June, which was further clarified on 10 July and 18 July. We do not lift the code red lightly and do so with the following in place:

  1. Members on alternate work arrangements will continue in these arrangements.
  2. The ability to apply for alternate work arrangements remains.
  3. We are looking to meet with FRNSW this afternoon to come to an agreed position around revised staff movements, accessing alternate work arrangements fairly and consistently, retraction of please explain letters issued and recrediting of leave for staff who had legitimate claims.
  4. We will be issuing a further SitRep tonight to clarify arrangements going forward.

As previously advised, if you feel you have a legitimate reason to not work at your usual location you should contact your local commands in the first instance to find suitable alternatives. If you have any issues, contact the Covid IMT and the FBEU about your individual circumstances, and we will help find alternate arrangements for you.

Your health and safety are our number one priority, and our goal is to provide a solution which both aligns with current health advice and protects our members and their families.

Thank you for adhering to the Code Red and stay safe.

In Unity,

Martin Dixon
Acting State Secretary
