Award update

Members were advised in our last update regarding both the Retained and Permanent Awards that we were awaiting the Department to finalise government approval to put an offer to resolve the Awards. This offer would be for one-year Awards with a 2.5% pay increase (consisting of 2.04% for wages and 0.5% for superannuation), a no extra claims clause, and an operative date from 26 February 2022.

We were hopeful that the Department would be in a position to confirm this offer by mid-August. We are now advised by the Department that this process has been delayed.

The parties are scheduled to return to the IRC on Tuesday 6 September for a report back. As soon as we have further information members will be provided with an update.

FBEU Industrial Action Committee

In the meantime, the FBEU will be convening a further meeting of our industrial action committee to discuss potential next steps should the Awards not resolve within a reasonable period of time. The first meeting was well attended by members from across the State with some extremely productive conversations regarding potential industrial action we could commence quickly being considered.

If you nominated for this committee, please watch your email early next week for a meeting time/date and link.

FBEU Delegates’ Conference

The Delegate’s Conference is fast approaching. We are proud to advise that over 100 Delegates will be in attendance for the 2-day event and look forward to them being able to return to station with vital information to pass on to members.

For those on shift who have registered to attend, you are entitled to Special Leave for Union Activities with pay. We have contacted FRNSW and sought the following leave arrangements on your behalf:

  • A platoon – to be released at 0700 hours the morning of 15 September to allow for reasonable travel time (if you require additional release to account for travel, please contact Rini Krouskos via email at rkrouskos@fbeu.net asap next week)
  • D Platoon – to be released for Thursday 15 September
  • C Platoon – to be released for Friday 16 September

Please note you still must complete a leave form and provide it to your Inspector/Captain in accordance with normal leave requirements noting the leave type is Special Leave for Union Activities. Any queries should be directed to Rini Krouskos via email at rkrouskos@fbeu.net.

We look forward to seeing you all there.

In Unity
