SitRep 34/2024

May 10, 2024

AWARD UPDATE

On Tuesday, both parties and State Government representatives met before Commissioner McDonald to further conciliate on a way forward concerning negotiations. With the Minns Government rumored to shortly announce a further position on public sector wages, both FRNSW and the FBEU have agreed to a further two-week extension and will reappear before the Commission the week after next.

Since Tuesday, the President and myself have also met with key decision makers within State Government to progress discussions including options previously detailed in SitRep 28.

The Minns Government has an opportunity to set things right here, both for FBEU members and other public sector workers soon to be negotiations. With that said, a failure of the Government to deliver meaningful change here will result in a swift escalation of our campaign.

In the meantime, it is important that we continue to build momentum and apply pressure. That starts tomorrow by ensuring that Code Reds are in force during FRNSW’s Open Day. See SitRep33 for instructions.

In Unity,

Leighton Drury
State Secretary
