CODE RED – CAFS Aerial Pumper Safety Issue

This week, our members identified a health and safety issue with CAFS Aerial Pumpers, where a certain sequence of actions would lead to the appliance’s stabilisers unexpectedly retracting.

We became aware of this today, and asked senior management to put out a safety bulletin to CAFS Aerial Pumper crews & operators to ensure they were aware of the issue and how to avoid it. Management have refused to do so.

As usual, we will manage the safety of our members where the bosses will not.

Therefore, until further notice, all members are to adhere to the following:

All CAFS Aerial Pumpers are offline and are not to turn out or leave stations until this Code Red is lifted.

If you have any questions about this matter, please contact the on-duty Fleet Operations Officer for technical support, or your SCOM Rep for industrial support.

In Unity,

Leighton Drury
State Secretary
