2024 PERMANENT AND RETAINED AWARDS – UPDATE

Yesterday, the 6% pay increase won through our 2024 Award arbitration kicked in. This means that in the next pay cycle, all members should see a 6% increase in pay which I’m sure will be welcome news for all.

In the meantime, you may have noticed that we have not yet sent out final versions of the Permanent and Retained Awards. This is because the Industrial Relations Commission has yet to publish the final versions on their website, which is required as the final process for the Awards to be completed.

Unfortunately, we do not have a timeframe for when we can expect this, however as soon as we have the final version, we will provide these to members.

Lastly, I can also confirm that this week we also agreed to the final D&D Award which includes an outstanding clause from the 2023 Award negotiations which the Department reneged on at the last minute in those negotiations.

This provision was proposed by the D&D Board and simply ensures that the value of the Retained Off Duty Death Benefit is properly aligned to the value of the equivalent Permanent Benefit. The process to finalise this is now before the IRC, and we will keep members updated.

CODE RED LIFTED – MEDIA ROOM

Following a lengthy consultation process, the FBEU has secured numerous concessions from the Department which will protect the privacy of our members, while enabling their media team to proceed with their outrageously expensive media room.

We will closely monitor the room’s operation to ensure it is in line with our agreement, so we can react quickly to any other threats to the health and safety of our members, or any issues with industrial implications for our members.

As such, the Code Red is lifted.
