SitRep 44/2025

December 12, 2025

AWARD UPDATE

As you may recall from our last SitRep on the 2024 Awards, there are only three clauses between the Permanent and Retained Award left to be determined by the IRC. We now have a date for that hearing, which is next Tuesday, 16 December.

We are hoping for a quick determination on these clauses, allowing us to finally complete both the 2024 Permanent and Retained Awards. Finalisation of the D&D Award will then occur in January next year.

Once the 2024 Awards are completed, we will be moving into the planning phase for the next Award round. More to come on this in the New Year.

INTENTION TO CEASE DUTY FORMS

The FBEU strongly advises all members against providing an Intention to Cease Duty form to the Department. It has become apparent that the Department is not complying with the requirements of these processes and not allowing members to withdraw their notice after it has been provided.

This matter is in dispute, however in the meantime, we advise all members not to complete this form until further notice.

RELIEVING STATION OFFICERS BEING ASSIGNED TO ZONE OFFICES – UPDATE

The Department will no longer be able to attach Relieving Station Officers to zone offices in an attempt to force them onto the day work roster, in line with the recent IRC decision.

In line with the decision, the positions attached to the zone office have now been moved to fire stations in MW3.

The IRC has recommended the parties commence formal consultation under Clause 25.22 of the Permanent Award to review the relieving model, and in the first instance, for MW3.
