2006 D&D Award negotiations

February 16, 2006

The 2003 Death and Disability Award has a nominal life of 3 years, and will therefore officially expire next month. The Union opened negotiations with the Department for a new D&D Award last October and fully expects to have a new 2006 D&D Award in place by 21 March.

The primary change being sought by the Union is for an automatic and ongoing adjustment  of the $250,000 lump sum benefits for off duty death or total and permanent incapacity (TPI), so that these benefits maintain their real value and keep pace with inflation. More to follow shortly.
