NOTICE OF SGM – OCTOBER TO NOVEMBER 2026 – UPDATE

 Further to SitRep 37/2026, SCOM has met this morning and endorsed the final agenda for our SGM commencing tomorrow.

A copy of the final agenda can be found here and contains the additional motions mentioned in yesterday’s SitRep. All motions on the agenda must now be voted on at the SGM.

Meetings will be asked to open the AGM, consider and vote on the AGM items, close the AGM, and then open the SGM, consider and vote on the SGM items, and then close the SGM.

For Country/Retained Sub-Branch meetings, relevant materials along with instructions will be emailed to delegates prior to their meeting.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible throughout the AGM/SGM period.

 

RULE CHANGES – ELECTRONIC VOTING – UPDATE

In accordance with SitRep 31/2026, yesterday SCOM met and adopted the proposed rule change to Rules 27 and 28 to provide for electronic voting for plebiscites. The wording of the rule change can be viewed in that SitRep.

PERMANENT MEAL ALLOWANCES ON OVERTIME – UPDATE

 Last night the Department issued a communication regarding the process to apply for back payment of your meal allowances on overtime.

I want to be clear, the FBEU did not agree with or endorse this communication nor the process the Department has adopted.

We have already had a lot of feedback to the office regarding the difficulties this process has caused for many members. I will be raising this directly with the Department.

In the meantime, if you are having trouble getting your claims in, we recommend that you contact the Department’s IR/Payroll Team directly for assistance.
