May Day 2000

May 3, 2000

This Sunday is the “red-letter” day for the firefighters that make up the FBEU. All FBEU members are encouraged to build on the success of previous turnouts by firefighters that has seen our Union’s representation at the march grow each year. And we have been rewarded for our previous turnouts by being placed at the head of the March.

May Day is an opportunity to meet up with old workmates, meet other members and your elected officials, and to show the public, the Department and the Government that firies are Union and Proud.

As is usual, we will assemble at the Union Office at 1100 hours this Sunday for the March that proceeds down George Street to the Rocks. We will throw an FBEU T-shirt on the back of all participants-big or small. (We have some kids sizes this year.)

From there, we will retire to a nearby watering hole to eat, drink and celebrate. Recent marches have seen over two hundred FBEU members form up our contingent and this year we want even more.

So bring the family and join your comrades for a great day. How great?
Ask those who have attended the last few years.

Marches are also being held in Newcastle and Wollongong this coming Saturday May 6. Sub-Branch members should contact their Sub-Branch Secretary: Mark Williams (Newcastle) or Mark Paloff (Illawarra) for further details.

See you there!

President
