UNION INSTRUCTIONS – SENIOR OFFICERS SUB-BRANCH
Members of the FBEU Senior Officers Sub Branch (SOSB) met on Friday November 27, 2020. The urgent meeting attended by approximately 80 members of the Branch was called to discuss a number of issues. The meeting resolved to take the following actions.
In relation to this matter the meeting resolved the following: “This meeting of the SOSB resolves that no SOSB member covered by the permanent firefighter’s Award, contribute to, or attend, any meeting, or discussion regarding a future or possible restructure of Field Operations and all correspondence, discussions and negotiations be undertaken directly with the FBEU through a group of elected SOSB members covered by the permanent firefighter’s Award, FBEU elected officials and FBEU industrial officers.”
The FBEU has written to FRNSW about this. You can read the letter here.
Members of the SOSB, covered by the Permanent Firefighters Award, are not to enter into any discussions or meetings individually or in groups about this issue until further instructions are made by the State Secretary.
The FBEU expects that FRNSW will respect the decision of members to be consulted in a collective way. Members of the SOSB and FBEU Officials assisted by staff are currently facilitating the election of representatives to work with Officials and Staff in any genuine consultation process.
Community Engagement Planning System (CEPS)
In relation to this matter the meeting resolved the following: “That this meeting of the SOSB resolves that due to no consultation in the development of CEPS and members feedback not being considered during training sessions, that the meeting instructs State Secretary to suspend all involvement in CEPS until proper consultation has been undertaken and feedback obtained and acted upon.”
