COVID-19 Level 4 Restrictions Still in Place

We resumed discussions with FRNSW today and will continue to maintain a dialogue through the COVID-19 working party arrangement to ensure member safety is prioritised in any directive or response to the ongoing outbreak in Greater Sydney.

Members are reminded that the Code Red issued 26 June 2021, instructing members to adhere to Pandemic Restriction Level 4, remains in place.

The only change to this involves the ESA where recruit classes will be able to go ahead “on the proviso that all non-essential personnel will not be allowed into the ESA for any reason during the remainder of the lockdown”, as outlined in the Department’s email to staff last night.

The highly contagious nature of the current variant, which has caused outbreaks in multiple parts of the country for the first time in months, warrants a decisive, proactive approach that prioritises member safety, and this is what will be underpinning the Union’s work on this issue.

To ensure our communication with members is effective and clear, we will be working with the Department to put out an agreed statement, however, the current Code Red with the exception of updated restrictions at the ESA remains in place until otherwise instructed.

Stay safe.

In Unity,

Shane Kennedy

State Secretary
