ATTENDANCE MANAGEMENT POLICY (AMP) CODE RED

Permanent Firefighters are reminded that the February 2024 CODE RED concerning the FRNSW AMP remains in place.

Effective immediately, all Permanent Firefighters are instructed to not engage in any AMP processes until otherwise instructed by the State Secretary.

Effective immediately, all Senior Officers are instructed to not pursue any AMP processes, including the issuing of letters, requesting meetings, finalising AMP matters, acting upon or actioning AMP workflow in MSS, or speaking to any Firefighter about the AMP until otherwise instructed by the State Secretary.

PROVISIONAL IMPROVEMENT NOTICE

Last week a provisional improvement notice (PIN) was issued by Health and Safety Reps (HSR’s) to FRNSW concerning changes to safe and effective minimum crewing at Peak Hill station. This followed repeated unsuccessful attempts by HSR’s to engage with the employer on matters relating to incident safety and safe work practices. A formal response to the PIN is imminent and Safe Work NSW has been engaged on the matter.

Members are reminded that the 2020 Code Red – Minimum Crewing Peak Hill remains in place. Further details can be found here at Sitrep 21/2025.

HEALTH AND SAFETY ORGANISING

For more than eight months FRNSW has refused coordinate meetings of the State Health and Safety Committee (SHSC), preventing HSR’s from representing members on a variety of important safety matters. The circumstances are unacceptable.

HSR’s have a legislated right to be at the decision-making table. Their work is crucially important to the safety of FBEU members. FRNSW must acknowledge and respect these facts.

As of next week, the FBEU will be coordinating a range of events for existing elected HSR’s. Details including registration is located below.
