118L inspections by Station Commanders

A minority of Station Commanders who hold the 118L ticket for fire safety inspections are being told by some Departmental senior managers that they must use this ticket as part of their duties as a Station Commander. Fire safety inspections using the 118L ticket are not part of the duties of a Station Commander, so don’t give the Department any increases in productivity for no return. The Union stopped the training and issuing of these qualifications for a reason, and that’s because they have a value not yet realized by members.
