Department backs down on dinner allowance – correction

Station ‘move-ups’ for staff shortages
The Union has been informed that there have recently been a number of ‘move-ups’ of permanent stations to standby at retained stations due to staff shortages. The Union does not agree to permanent station ‘move-ups’ to cover these staff shortages. By moving stations in this manner the Department is effectively involved in the deliberate closure of permanent stations which is clearly unacceptable. Permanent members should not participate in the practice of ‘move-ups’ for the purpose of covering retained staff shortages, and those who are directed to should contact the Union.
Have your say on bullying and harassment
After Union pressure and some high profile complaints last year the Department has finally started to address the issue of bullying and harassment. It has engaged consultants KPMG to conduct a review into workplace conduct and culture and will commence surveying members today as part of that research. The Union encourages members to participate and to take this opportunity to have a say.
