2023 AGM/SGMs: dates, times and locations

The final list of AGM/SGMs is below.

At least seven members will be required at each location to reach a quorum. Any Union member (permanent or retained) may attend any meeting and vote on any AGM question, even if they are not a member of that Sub-Branch, however anyone attending more than one meeting may only vote once.

2023 Annual General Meeting Agenda, October/November 2023

  1. Adoption of Minutes:
    1. That the draft minutes of the Union’s 112th Annual General Meeting, held on Tuesday 8 November 2022, as tabled and circulated prior to this meeting, be received, noted and adopted as a true and correct record of that meeting.
    2. That the draft minutes of the Unions SGMS, held on Friday 3 February 2023, as tabled and circulated prior to this meeting, be received, noted and adopted as a true and correct record of that meeting.
    3. That the draft minutes of the Unions SGMS, held on Wednesday 6 September, as tabled and circulated prior to this meeting, be received, noted and adopted as a true and correct record of that meeting.

    1. Endorsement of 2024 Permanent Award claim

    That this special general meeting of members endorse the Draft Permanent Log of Claims as published on the FBEU website on 23rd October for the Permanent Firefighting Staff Award and seek that the Union present the Log of Claims to FRNSW as the position of the FBEU membership for this round of Award negotiations.

    State Committee Recommendation: SUPPORT

     

    1. Endorsement of 2024 Retained Award claim

    That this special general meeting of members endorse the Draft Retained Log of Claims as published on the FBEU website on 23rd October for the Retained Firefighting Staff Award and seek that the Union present the Log of Claims to FRNSW as the position of the FBEU membership for this round of Award negotiations.

    State Committee Recommendation: SUPPORT

     

    1. Endorsement of 2024 Death and Disability Award Claim

    That this special general meeting of members endorse the Draft Death & Disability Log of Claims as published on the FBEU website on 23rd October for the Death and Disability Award and seek that the Union present the Log of Claims to FRNSW as the position of the FBEU membership for this round of Award negotiations. 

    State Committee Recommendation: SUPPORT

     

    1. SCOM Delegate Conference Expenses

    That this special general meeting of members endorses the updating of the State Committee of Management Remuneration policy to reflect that State Committee officials will have their expenses paid for by the union to attend future FBEU delegate conferences and reimburse officials for the 2022 FBEU Delegates’ Conference.

    State Committee Recommendation: SUPPORT

     

    1. Consultation Remuneration

    That this special general meeting of members endorses the updating of the State Committee of Management Remuneration policy to reflect that, State Committee officials may under the recently made awards be paid by Fire and Rescue NSW to attend consultative meetings, like any other union member, unless that time is being paid for by the FBEU.

    State Committee Recommendation: SUPPORT

     

    1. Training Remuneration

    That this special general meeting of members endorses the updating of the State Committee of Management Remuneration policy to reflect that State Committee officials will be provided with training as determined by the State Committee of Management from time to time, with examples of the type of training that may be required to include but are not limited to; Financial training, media training, public speaking, running meetings, social media, report writing and using/utilising technology, and that officials who wish to undertake a course to enhance skills to assist in discharging their duties as an Official are to:

      1. apply to the State Secretary, for consideration and approval by the State Committee of Management; and
      2. Applications must be submitted prior to the commencement of the course; and
      3. All reasonable costs associated with the training approved will be met by the FBEU including meals, accommodation and travel;
      4. and that itemised costs will be reported to members via the yearly AGM.

    State Committee Recommendation: SUPPORT

     

    1. Communication Allowance

    That this special general meeting of members endorses the updating of the State Committee of Management Remuneration policy to reflect that State Committee officials will be paid a monthly communications allowance of $75.00 indexed yearly by the CROWN EMPLOYEES (FIRE AND RESCUE NSW PERMANENT FIREFIGHTING STAFF) AWARD headline pay rise.

    State Committee Recommendation: SUPPORT

     

    1. Retirement Functions

    That this special general meeting of members endorses the updating of the State Committee of Management Remuneration policy to reflect that an Official attending a Retirement function for a member with over 10 years membership, for the purpose of presenting the Union gift, will have the ticket costs paid for by the FBEU subject to approval by State Committee of Management.
