Most (but not all) allowances also increased on 2 March by 4%, including the relieving kilometre allowance (up from $0.89 to $0.93 per km) and the relieving allowance (up from $23.92 to $24.88).

Please note that meal, refreshment and travelling compensation allowances are adjusted on 1 July of each year in line with movements in the CPI, and have therefore not changed since 1 July 2006. The current meal allowance is $21.90, and the refreshment allowance $10.95. For a full list of all current traveling comp rates, see the Union’s website notice of 27 July 2006.

In accordance with the Union’s registered rules, Union dues increased on 2 March, rising to $10.54 per week for permanent members. Whilst clearly within our rules, a full explanation for this 11.4% increase in dues can be found in the State Committee’s resolution of 1 February 2007 which follows immediately following the website version of this notice today. Members are again remained that Union dues include the Howard Government’s 10% GST, and are fully tax deductible as a legitimate work-related expense.

The 4% increase for retained members will follow on 1 April 2007.
