Election Day Results – New Premier calls to thank FBEU members
As results from closely contested seats continue to trickle in, it is still unclear whether Labor will form Government in their own right or form a minority Government with the support of key independents.

Regardless, the outcome on the State Election is a huge victory for NSW professional firefighters. “When time’s not on your side” was the biggest grassroots representation of NSW workers on the ground, with hundreds of members involved in manning early voting and election day polling booths in over eight marginal electorates.

As per our previous Sitrep, we should all be extremely proud of our efforts. The change of Government on the weekend will mean the restrictive and unfair wages cap will be gone, it means 600 much needed extra firefighters for our service and key infrastructure upgrades to our failing stations.

Yesterday the new Premier Chris Minns called me to thank FBEU members for their efforts and support. Now is the time to ensure he delivers not just thanks but his commitments as well.

FBEU Fix Our Fire Service Industrial Campaign Continues

Despite the election outcome over the weekend, the industrial campaign over the Award negotiations continue.

If we are to achieve significant outcomes in these negotiations and continue to pursue our Logs of Claims we must continue to campaign collectively and be fully engaged to ensure success.

Members are therefore reminded that the Fix Our Fire Service and associated Code Reds as outlined in Sitrep on Friday 24 March remain in place. These Code Reds will be in place until Tuesday 4 April at 4pm when we are next due to meet with FRNSW over the Awards unless otherwise instructed.

Congratulations to all FBEU members for getting us this far. Let’s keep it up until we have a fair deal!

In Unity,

Leighton Drury
State Secretary
