Inside this notice: SOPP Dispute Union elections – Have you voted yet? May Day Reminder

Members sitting the SOPP exams on Thursday 1 May 2003 are entitled to the relevant provisions of Clause 16 of the Crown Employees (NSW Fire Brigades Firefighting Staff) Award 2001.

As members would be aware, the D&D Award was last month endorsed by Union members and subsequently ratified by the Industrial Relations Commission to take effect on 21 March 2003. In short, the D&D Award is now in force.

Whilst participation in the new D&D arrangements will be compulsory for permanent members in SASS without Additional Benefit Cover (ABC), those SASS members who do have ABC will soon be given a one-off choice of one of following options:

This week, ballot papers will arrive in every member’s letterbox enabling you to determine your Union representatives for the term 2003-2006.

NOTE: The notice faxed to all stations yesterday indicated that the Sydney May Day celebrations are being held on Sunday 3rd May 2003. The correct date actually is Sunday 4th May, 2003.
